I would like to add someone to our historical hunks gallery: Jose Carlos Mariategui (there should be accents here, but I don't want to change my keyboard to Spanish).
Behold the man considered to be the father of Latin American Marxism. He believed that Marxism in Latin America should develop through indigenous roots instead of through forcing a prescriptive European model of socialism on Latin American countries. He died at age 35, so the amount of influence he has had in Latin America is pretty amazing. I think he has rather striking features. He spent some time in Italy, which is cool. His travels merge my two favorite countries!
